About

People receiving end of life care need your companionship and support: Become a Corewell Health Hospice Volunteer!

Would you like to read to a patient who can no longer see the pages? Watch a Tigers game with a patient while their spouse goes out to get groceries? Document a life story for someone who wants to leave their stories behind for their family and friends? Play an instrument or sing for a patient at their bedside? Provide a haircut for a patient that can no longer safely leave their home?  Bring your certified therapy pet to visit and brighten a patient’s day with a furry friend?

We offer a flexible volunteer program. Volunteers determine what geographic area they would like to serve patients, how many patients they would like to support, and how often they would like to volunteer.   Average time commitment is one hour per week after orientation is completed.

We have many opportunities throughout 13 counties in West Michigan!

We also are looking for additional Caring Crafter volunteers who would like to sew Bereavement Bears (teddy bears created out of a patient’s clothing as a memory item for their loved ones).  Our Caring Crafter program only requires a completed application.  There are experienced Bereavement Bear sewing mentors available, if desired.

Please contact us for additional application and training information!

Note: Our summer volunteer orientation is scheduled for August 6 and 13/9a-1p (you must attend both sessions).  If our summer volunteer orientation does not work for you - please note there will be additional sessions scheduled throughout 2025.  Those dates and times are not yet solidified.
