Advocate for a child in foster care
Listed by CASA of Kent County
About
Every abused and neglected child living in foster care needs a voice in court - an advocate to speak up for their best interest. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Kent County empowers community members to be a foster child’s voice and the much-needed consistency a child needs after being removed from their home. A CASA Volunteer is specially trained to build a relationship with a child in foster care; to explore their circumstances; to understand their wishes and to communicate their needs to Family Court Judges. If you have 15-20 hours per month to give to a child, we encourage you to apply. CASA of Kent County is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion so that all children have an equitable chance of returning to or being placed in safe, loving, and stable homes.
Our next training cohort begins on August 27th and runs for five weeks.
If you're interested in the role, select 'register' and a CASA staff member will be in touch about next steps. Note that this is not registering for a training class, but simply a way to express interest! If you'd like to submit a formal application to become a court appointed special advocate, visit the volunteer page on our website.
Must be 21 years old and possess a current driver's license, and must be able to pass a background check.
